Glimepiride 1mg and Metformin 500mg is a combination medication used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It's typically prescribed when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapies like glimepiride or metformin alone are not sufficient to control blood sugar. 

• Glimepiride:Stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, which helps remove sugar from the blood. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class of drugs. 
• Metformin:Reduces glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity in muscle cells, and delays glucose absorption from the intestines. It is a biguanide. 

Uses:

• Treating type 2 diabetes. 
• When diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy (either glimepiride or metformin) are not enough to control blood sugar. 
• Combining the actions of both drugs to provide a more effective approach to managing blood glucose. 

Empagliflozin (brand name Jardiance) is a prescription tablet used to treat several conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. It is not used for Type 1 diabetes. 

• Mechanism of action: Empagliflozin works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose (sugar) in the kidneys, causing the body to excrete more sugar through the urine.
• Administration: It is used along with a healthy diet and regular exercise, and may be prescribed alone or with other diabetes medicines. 

For heart conditionsEmpagliflozin is also prescribed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with:  

• Heart failure: For patients with heart failure, it helps improve symptoms like tiredness and breathlessness and reduces the workload on the heart by removing excess salt and fluid.
• Type 2 diabetes and heart disease: For patients with both Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, it lowers the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death.
